NEW!

The Center for Fire Research and Outreach at the University of California Berkeley has developed a new user friendly website called the Builder's Wildfire Mitigation Guide.

The website has photos to illustrate fire safe construction techniques for most home construction components and links for up to date products that are compliant with California's Wildland Urban Interface Building Standards (Chapter 7A). The following link takes you to their website ~ http://firecenter.berkeley.edu/bwmg/.

The patented Vulcan Vent® is proven to STOP Dangerous Ember intrusion into the attic and other spaces of the home.
(With
or without the presence of fire.)

STOP Fire intrusion into the attic and other spaces of the home.

California WUI building code calls for a vent that  will stop floating embers from
entering the attic through the eave or soffit vents and at the same time
prevent fire from passing through.

Finally there is a self closing vent that does both without sacrificing air flow!

Wildland Urban Interface Building Standards
Chapter 7A - California Building Code

Effective January 1, 2008 there will be new building standards for Wildland Fire Zones in California. Some areas may not adopt these new standards until July 1, 2008.

We will make every attempt to provide you with the most current information about these new standards and how they will affect your project. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call our office at (530) 245-1805 or email Don Frank (don@sidingdirect.com).
